Where would you like to go?

Select all that call to you. We'll build an itinerary that moves through them in the right sequence.

✓
Northern Tanzania
The crown of East African safari, home to the Serengeti's endless plains where over 1.5 million wildebeest thunder north each year in the world's greatest wildlife spectacle. The Ngorongoro Crater shelters the densest concentration of Big Five in Africa within its ancient caldera walls — a natural Eden formed two million years ago. This is Maasai heartland: warrior clans who have co-existed with lions for centuries still graze cattle beneath acacia trees as their ancestors did. German and British colonial railways, mission churches, and Arusha's role as the 'Geneva of Africa' add a layered human history to every journey here.
✓
Southern Tanzania
The Selous — renamed Nyerere National Park — is Africa's largest protected ecosystem, an immense wilderness of fever trees, oxbow lakes, and sand rivers where few other tourists venture. Ruaha hosts one of the continent's largest elephant populations alongside packs of endangered African wild dog, a species that once roamed this land alongside the Hehe warriors who famously resisted German conquest for a decade. Boat safaris on the Rufiji River bring you within meters of hippos and crocodiles in a landscape unchanged since Arab-Swahili traders moved ivory and slaves through these corridors centuries ago. Southern Tanzania rewards the traveler who seeks depth over ease — remoter lodges, fewer vehicles, and a wildness that feels genuinely frontier.
✓
Western Tanzania
At Gombe Stream, Jane Goodall began her landmark chimpanzee research in 1960 and transformed our understanding of the boundary between human and animal; her study community still roams these forest hills. Mahale Mountains offers an even more immersive encounter — trekking through montane forest to sit within meters of habituated chimps, with spectacular Lake Tanganyika glittering below through the canopy. The Tongwe people are the traditional custodians of these forests, with a rich oral tradition tied to the lake's ancient fishing culture and inter-tribal trade that pre-dates Arab contact. Lake Tanganyika itself is the world's second-deepest lake, home to hundreds of endemic cichlid species and clear enough for excellent snorkeling — a hidden gem at the end of a long journey.
✓
Tanzania Coast & Islands
Zanzibar's Stone Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site where Arab, Persian, Indian, and Portuguese influences layer upon each other in carved wooden doorways, coral-stone mosques, and labyrinthine alleyways. The archipelago was the heart of the Swahili Coast spice trade for a thousand years — cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon still perfume the air in plantation country — and served as the base for the 19th-century slave trade that shaped all of East Africa. Pristine coral reefs off Mnemba Atoll host manta rays, whale sharks, and kaleidoscopic reef fish in some of the Indian Ocean's most biodiverse waters. The Pemba and Mafia islands offer an even quieter escape — fewer tourists, untouched dive sites, and Swahili fishing villages where life moves to the rhythm of the dhow's sail.
✓
Kilimanjaro
Africa's highest peak rises 5,895 meters from equatorial savanna to permanent glaciers — the largest freestanding mountain on Earth, and one of the Seven Summits. Five distinct ecological zones stack upon each other on the climb: cultivated farmland gives way to rainforest, then moorland, then alpine desert, then the glacial arctic summit, each with its own wildlife and eerie beauty. The Chagga people have farmed Kilimanjaro's fertile southern slopes for centuries, building an intricate network of irrigation channels still used today, and their coffee and banana farms form the gateway to the mountain. Hemingway immortalized the mountain's snows, but the glaciers have retreated dramatically since his time — climbing Kilimanjaro now carries the weight of witnessing one of climate change's most visible frontlines.
✓
Kenya Safari
The Masai Mara is arguably the world's most famous safari destination — golden grasslands stretching to the horizon, hosting the dramatic Mara River crossing where wildebeest risk crocodile-filled waters in one of nature's most visceral spectacles. Maasai warriors in ochre and red beads inhabit the land surrounding the reserve, offering an encounter with a culture that has preserved its warrior traditions and pastoral customs despite pressure from modernity for over 300 years. The Out of Africa era left its mark: Karen Blixen's farm on the Ngong Hills, colonial-era Nairobi, and the railway that Cecil Rhodes called 'the lunatic express' built by thousands of Indian laborers all form part of the landscape. Kenya's network of private conservancies — Ol Pejeta, Lewa, Laikipia — add a conservation layer to the experience, where rhino, wild dog, and cheetah thrive under community-based protection models leading the world.
✓
Uganda Safari
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is home to nearly half the world's remaining mountain gorillas — around 460 individuals — and a gorilla trek through its ancient dense canopy to sit with a silverback family is among the most profound wildlife encounters on the planet. The Batwa pygmies, Bwindi's original inhabitants, were forest-dwellers for thousands of years before conservation displaced them; their cultural programs offer a window into one of Africa's oldest and most intimate relationships with the forest. The Buganda Kingdom, centered on Kampala, is one of Africa's oldest and most sophisticated pre-colonial states, with a royal palace, parliament, and cultural institutions that survived colonial annexation and Idi Amin's brutal regime. Uganda's extraordinary biodiversity extends beyond gorillas to include 1,000+ bird species, chimpanzees in Kibale Forest, and tree-climbing lions in Queen Elizabeth National Park — more primate species than anywhere else on Earth.
